Our Story

Can’t Wait Flowers started due to fate.

Finding an urban flower farmer to learn from, buying a property that was previously a gladiola farm, and not having the patience to wait to start growing dahlias once it all began.

Megan Wannarka, owner of Can’t Wait Flowers, was lucky enough to find and learn from Nathan Honken of Honken Dahlias. His history of showing dahlias makes his standards for growing them very very high.

Being able to learn from someone with the highest standards and wealth of knowledge only helped Megan start Can’t Wait Flowers in winter of 2022. After trialing other cut flowers, dahlias have her heart. Growing on less than a quarter acre, Can’t Wait Flowers continues to trial new variety of dahlias as well as breed their own. Focusing on purple varieties with better storage hardiness.

Megan hopes that if you see her yard, pick up some flowers at the farmers market or get them as a gift you enjoy the locally grown joy Can’t Wait Flowers create.

We will be selling dahlia tubers in Spring of 2025. Sign up for our newsletter for updates on that!

We believe in sustainability, reduce, reuse, recycle, using organic/local fertilizers and buying small and local. All plant matter from our field is composted (anything looking diseased is thrown away).

If you have any quart class jars, feel free to drop them off at the farm :)

We humbly acknowledge we occupy the ancestral lands of the Wahpekute People. This land has shown us the gift of community, connection and blessings. May we continue to seek guidance from the elders and land-keepers who have been nurturing the biodiversity of this region for countless generations.
